Royal Liver gets makeover!

We have recently been working at the Royal Liver Building, conducting high specification measurements and mapping of the interior of the historic building as part of a £5 million renovation project.

The work, commissioned by the project’s consultant architect Roy Alexander of Acies Group, will underpin the renovation of the ornate riverside Western Portico, which was originally the main entrance to the Grade I listed building.

The project will see the interior of the building brought up to date for commercial leasing, whilst maintaining the original character and style of the world famous property.  Formby Surveys were commissioned to undertake an external topographical survey, internal floor plans, sections and elevations of the ground and basement floors.

The proposal for the new entrance was to include a curved glazed entrance which was to be designed and cut off site and accurate profile information was required in order to fit the glazing around the existing cornice and column detail – and it fitted like a glove!

Following successful completion of this phase of work, additional survey information was required at roof level incorporating the existing conference suite and maintenance rooms and again Formby Surveys was chosen by Acies to undertake the work.
