GEO Business 2016

In recent years, GEO Business has become one of the most important shows in the geospatial calendar. This year, over 3000 visitors were expected to attend the event that has rightfully gained remarkable traction and success in the industry.

The event, held in London’s Business Design Centre, consisted of a two day conference, international exhibition, associated meetings, commercial workshops and of course, fantastic networking opportunities.

An important element of this year’s show worth mentioning is the fact that I wasn’t the only member of the Formby Surveys team in attendance as I took our trainee surveyor, Ciara McCauley with me. Ciara was part of the MBS Survey Software exhibiting team for the duration of the event, representing both MBS Survey Software and Formby Surveys.

When speaking to Ciara following the event she said, “It was a great opportunity for me to go to the GEO Business Conference. I’ve made some great new connections, and I got to see some of the amazing new products that are available to surveyors like me. Working on the MBS Survey Software’s stand was beneficial to the growth of my own knowledge of measured building surveys as I got see exactly how other people work, enabling me to gain some really helpful tips”.

The conference featured presentations from leading experts in the geospatial industry, focusing particularly on infrastructure, innovation, sustainability and geospatial economic efficiency. Alongside the engaging conferences, we managed to take a good look at some of the fascinating exhibitions, particularly the GIS and UAV zones, areas that have undoubtedly garnered a great deal of interest in recent years.

Like any event of this kind, it was great for both myself and Ciara to network with fellow attendees and as expected, this year’s GEO Business event was a great success and well worth attending. See you next year!
