What is now the Mandarin Oriental Hotel originally opened its doors to the public as the Hyde Park Hotel in 1902.  In 1996, The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group purchased the hotel and undertook a full renovation of the 198 rooms and suites and reopened, in May 2000, as The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park.  The hotel is located in the exclusive Knightsbridge district of London and offers superb views overlooking Hyde Park on one side and Knightsbridge on the other and is within walking distance of Harvey Nichols, Harrods and Green Park. Today, the hotel boasts an impressive 169 guest-rooms, 25 suites and 3 restaurants, one of which is Dinner by Heston Blumenthal.

We were required to carry out 360° panoramic photography of the guestrooms and suites within the hotel as part of a larger measured building survey we were undertaking of the entire hotel, internally and externally.  Using our iStar camera we accessed all of the hotel guestrooms and provided 360° panoramic photography of each room which could be used as part of the design process.  The iStar camera was an excellent choice of equipment for this task as its portable, quick, reliable and produces exceptional photography.

The survey was presented to the client as an interactive virtual tour, enabling  users the ability to navigate their way through the hotel room by room.
